Massive Review of Pens/Pencils and a Handwriting Analysis (somewhat)

So I just want to put it out there that I am a stationery snob. I love trying out new writing utensils and different types of stationary. I’m very picky about the kind of pen I use and the type of paper I write on. What I’ve gathered from my analysis is the following things:
Likes:
  • ballpoint pens
  • writing tip of 0.7, no more, no less
  • unlined, unmargined paper
  • smooth paper + ballpoint OR rough paper + rollerball/gel
Dislikes:
  • thin paper + <0.5 tipped pens
  • wide ruled paper (who doesn’t?)
  • felt tip pens (comparable to the feeling of rubbing Styrofoam pieces together *shudder*)
This can probably all be attributed to the fact that I write with a lot of pressure on paper and with somewhat large wording. My words also seem to clump together a lot and I tend to switch up between script and print. I’m not really sure how to do a handwriting analysis but from what I know (yay for Google), my handwriting shows that I am cluttered, unorganized, and have a lot of anger/resentment. My writing can also be a bit bubbly at times (meaning the loops in my letters are round and large comparable to the lines) which shows that I am a bit naive and immature. So nothing good about me has come from this analysis. Maybe I could say my preference for unlined paper shows that I am carefree and unrestricted (or that I could be spouting total bullshit). Anyways, my analysis is nothing without the actual writing itself so onto the pen reviews!

1,2,3 (Uni Jetstream) - Exactly as it is advertised. Smooth, dark, precise, and doesn’t skip! The red one will be good for marking up stuff and the color is actually very vibrant although it’s more of a lighter red.  I got the 0.5s in hopes that they might make my writing neater. I end up just writing through my paper from pressing too hard. The 0.7, however, is great.I love the look of it and it feels great in my hand. But there’s something about it that’s missing...
4  (Pentel R.S.V.P.) - A pen that I’ve used since elementary school. It’s very smooth and dark, but the ink always skips and is uneven. I’ve had several pop in my pencil cases throughout the years. This is the first retractable one I have but it doesn’t make any difference
5  (Pilot B2P) - Recycled plastic (bottle to pen), mimics the look of a bottle, AND has G2 refills? SWEET. G2 ink is pretty good but it does skip occasionally.
6 (Pilot V Razor Point) - Felt tip pens are the bane of my existence (see my dislikes above). They bleed profusely and feel terrible to write with. The only good thing about this pen is that it is green. I like green.
7 (Pilot P-500) - Also something I used back in my wee years. Don’t particularly like thin pens but it’s very sharp and concise. The blue is a bit too light for me.
8 (Staples Optiflow) - For a generic brand, this pen is AWESOME. It’s smooth but has enough friction so that it’s comfortable for me. I have to say this is one of my favorite pens. My only qualm is that it bleeds a bit.

9, 10, 11(Uni Kuru Toga) - The Kuru Toga actually works very well and does what it says. The line widths are almost always consistent ad the pencil looks really nice. BUT, I did say that I have a preference for thicker tips so my votes will always go to the good-ole non-mechanical pencil. I just don’t use em much cause a pencil sharpener + sharpening is pretty inconvienient. The Kuru  Toga will be good for work involving calculations and detail drawings, not so much writing.

12 (Prismacolor Brush Tip) - Why am I even doing a review of this? Good for outlining large drawings but I don’t see any other use.
13, 14 (Sakura Micron) - Once again, good for outlining but ITS FELT TIPPED. But I don’t really have any other choice since ballpoints tend to skip when used for outlining.

Verdict on Best Pen/Pencil (for me)
Jetstream 0.7, B2P, Optiflow

Real Verdict
Regular pencil for everything else. Really.
