This past weekend was my birthday so I went out to celebrate with a friend. I had been itching to find any occasion to wear Holy Lantern, so I wore it! A general rule of thumb when wearing lolita out in public is that if there's more one person in frilly wear (aka not by yourself), you will get comments. Some more rude than others. Highlights of the day were:
- "Are you going to a wedding?" (who wears all white???)
- "Did you get married?" (because gothic and crosses is totally appropriate for getting married)
- "Excuse me! Do you speak english?" (TRIGGERED)
My jimmies are rustled. I am also making it a personal goal to start taking pictures of people who secretly take pictures of lolitas. /end salt
I generally get really bad stomach pain from eating anything with wheat, which forces me to avoid most of my favorite gluten-filled foods on the advice of my doctor. On my birthday however, I like to give myself a cheat day and so I decided to go eat two of my favorite things: soup dumplings and bonchon chicken. I am going to bond with my toilet for the rest of the week.
The next day, I went over to my aunt's place to celebrate the dreaded 25th with my family. She made my favorite Vietnamese dish for me, banh xeo, which is essentially a pork and shrimp rice crepe. Please excuse my terrible pictures. My cousin also made me a marbled strawberry cheesecake because cheesecake is the best.
Between this delicious food-filled weekend, finding out I got a job offer, and BTS dropping their latest album, this birthday has been incredibly satisfying and amazing. Everything seems to be falling into place for me and I hope I can keep this momentum going. Here's to a new year and a new me!
