Sakura Sunday ft. No Sakura
This past Sunday I attended my city's cherry blossom festival. My local comm usually holds a picnic meetup on the park grounds and it was such a lovely day to gather with friends and literally just sit around and eat and talk. It was my first time attending in lolita! Previous years, I went in either cosplay or as a volunteer.
Of course since it was a sakura festival, I decided to go with a classic floral coord using a Victorian Maiden JSK. Wearing short sleeves and a hoopskirt certainly made the warm weather more bearable for me. I also have a rule of thumb that if it's warm enough to wear no jacket outside (like 50degF up), it's warm enough for boater or straw hats. :) The temps only went up to the mid-70s, but it was ridiculously sunny and bright, so everything just felt warmer. I did regret wearing tights instead of ankle socks.
The picnic was wonderful as well, with a lot of people bringing food to share. Unfortunately all of the cherry blossoms had died by the time this event came around, so it wasn't so much of a hanami picnic as it was just a regular picnic. Hopefully, next year's weather will be more forgiving to the trees.

Outfit Roundup and HOLY LANTERN
Wore a sweet sailor coord to go eat shabu with some friends. Note to self: don't wear polyester at meals that have a direct source of heat right in front of you. You will sweat a lot.
I FINALLY got Holy Lantern in the mail after a long, long wait. Was the wait worth it? Of course! This is my absolute holy grail dress, and I will treasure it forever. Look at that flocky goodness. Bless you ChibiTenshi and AP.
Speaking of Holy Lantern, I went back to hotpot later on in the week (because I'm an adult and I can), and decided to try for a casual coord with my HL high-waisted jsk in navy. I feel like you can definitely pull off a more casual coord with high-waisted dresses due to the smaller poof, plus I will find any excuse to wear this print because it is my one true love. Of course, it was sweltering hot in the restaurant but the ankle socks and short-sleeves were definitely more bearable than the sailor coord I wore earlier in the week.
